Position Description

This Associate General Counsel ("Deposits AGC") will be responsible for providing strategic and tactical legal support to the Deposits line of business. The Deposits AGC will support the Deposits team responsible for growing and supporting the $100B of retail deposits and a smaller book of brokered deposit, including supporting product development, marketing, servicing, regulatory change and integration efforts with acquired institutions. As a digital bank, Ally Bank does not have any branches, and relies exclusively on its online platform and mobile applications to provide superior products and services.

The Deposits AGC will report to the Deputy General Counsel for Banking and Investing. For this position, Ally is seeking an established lawyer who is equanimous and solution-oriented, a collaborative leader who exhibits both accountability and empathy, and an entrepreneurial owner who is driven to excel.

The preferred location for this position will be Charlotte, North Carolina.

Qualifications

Juris Doctor from an accredited law school, preferably with academic distinction
Approximately ten to fifteen years of experience supporting or counseling the deposit-related businesses of a U.S. Bank. Experience with a state chartered, member bank is preferred.
Mastery of relevant federal statutes and regulations and of network rules, including Reg. DD, Reg. CC, Reg. E, FDIC 370, NACHA Rules, MC/Visa Operating rules, Zelle rules. Strong familiarity with relevant state statutes and regulations, including statutes and regulations related to escheatment and licensing.
Experience in drafting, reviewing and negotiating consumer-facing and business-to-business contracts, disclosures, and terms and conditions.
Experience interacting with federal and state regulators, including the CFPB, the FRB, and the NY DFS in both supervisory and enforcement matters.

The Government Relations function oversees public-policy advocacy and outreach to executive, legislative, and other political bodies and officials at all levels of government.
