| General Counsel - Chief Compliance Officer NorthStar Alarm - Orem, UT NorthStar Alarm Services is the fastest growing company in the home automation and security industry. We have an immediate opening for a Chief Compliance Officer and General Counsel to work at our Orem, Utah corporate office. This is an excellent opportunity to join the company at this exciting time. As a key member of the Management team, the General Counsel will report to the CEO. The General Counsel responsible for overseeing the legal and compliance department and ensuring overall legal compliance throughout the Company. The functions of the General Counsel includes liaising with the board of directors and leading and managing the overall strategic legal and compliance objectives of the organization. The General Counsel’s main roles are to minimize company liability and risks – by overseeing compliance with all industry standards, federal, state and local regulations and laws, protect the company’s reputation, and work to prevent lawsuits with competitors, customers or employees. •Maintain and update customer and representative contracts consistent with all federal, state and local requirements •Ensure use of proper employment documents to protect the company •Ensure proper use of proper paper and electronic customer agreements by state and legal jurisdiction, including customer agreements for both direct sales and telephone solicitations. •Oversee approval of all other company agreements and contracts •Ensure company’s internal policies with respect to customer and employee processes and interactions are consistent with all laws and requirements •Maintain and manage company, employee and representative state licensing compliance •Maintain and manage systems of sales compliance tracking to ensure employee compliance to standards •Work through any issues arising with competitors •Address the media as needed regarding compliance or any legal matters •Ensure the legality of strategies that are formed by the company board •Work with HR to monitor employees and ensure they are not engaged in any illegal activities •Advise and be present during contract terminations as necessary as to avoid legal complications Preferred Skills Proven Track record of success as Associate or General Counsel in home security or related industry Experience managing company and individual licensing Contract experience Experience maintaining and managing company compliance Strong Verbal and Written communication skills Strong attention to detail Organization skills Professionalism MS Office (Word, Excel, etc) Qualifications and Education Requirements Juris Doctorate Degree and licensed to practice law in the State of Utah required. 4+ years of work experience in industry preferably as Associate or General Counsel NorthStar Alarm Services offers: •Medical, Dental, Vision, Life benefits after 60 days FT •Paid Time Off •Employee events & Activities •Gym membership •Dynamic company culture of integrity and service!
